Do you find that time spent at your Holiday Home can often be a very busy period for you?  Catching up with all the maintenance jobs on your to-do list such as tidying the garden and mowing the lawn; walking the dog and socialising at the Family Show Lounge here at Whitehouse Leisure Park, you might wonder when you will get a spare few hours to yourself, to relax and unwind.

So why not Take Up a New Hobby like Arts and Crafts, a brilliant pastime for people of all abilities and ages. There is so much choice, it’s a very affordable hobby and it’s something that you can do either at home or at one of the many courses and social events around the region. The majority of people don’t think they have a creative side until they begin to craft something; you are sure to find something to interest you.

Here are a few suggestions of local arts and crafts activities you could join in with near to your Holiday Home Park in North Wales

Craig-y-Don Community Centre – Conwy

The Art Group meets every Thursday from 1.00pm until 4.00pm

Complete beginners are welcome at this drawing and painting class, with mediums in Pencil, Watercolours and Pastels. A very friendly atmosphere – encouragement and guidance are offered.

Tan y Ddraig Paint a Pot Studio – High Street in Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon

Choose from a variety of blank pottery which you then paint and design to create a truly unique piece of pottery. All materials are provided plus inspiration and training if needed. When you’ve finished painting your pot, it will be professionally glazed and fired in the kiln.

Trefriw Woollen Mills  – Trefriw, Llandudno

Try your hand at spinning and hand weaving wool at this Woollen Mill. Discover how wool is produced by a visit to the Dyehouse; see the hanking and doubling machinery, the procedures to the finished product of traditional Welsh tapestry cloth and bedspreads.

 Knitting Event Dunoon Hotel – Llandudno

Advance notice of an Autumn event – dates to be announced. Join ‘Create and Craft’ TV presenter, teacher and International knitting designer Julie Arnfield-Crowther (Juey) and her lovely assistant, Debbi at this fun packed, crafty, weekend. This event is aimed at all levels of ability from beginner to expert, as Julie will be teaching ‘Extreme knitting’.

3 Day Blacksmithing course – Bluefoot Forge, Stapleton, Presteigne, Powys

Please check available dates. A 3-day course to introduce you to the skills of the Blacksmith. All health and safety equipment is provided and after initial instruction, you will be allowed “hands on” on the third day, to create an interesting artefact. Booking is required via the Bluefoot Forge website

Bespoke Stone Carving – Upper House, Knucklas, Knighton, Powys

Specialist bespoke training in letter cutting or stone carving. Evening classes and daytime groups can be organised.

If you already have a skill that you could pass on to others, why not start up your own group? You may be surprised at how many people are also interested in taking up a new hobby.
